As a mom to two girls, it has been a constant battle for me to learn how to do girls’ hair. Like, I’m awful at it. I can never get pony tails straight, and I sure as heck can’t get a part to go right down the middle.
But, guys…I try. SO hard.
Day after day, there I am trying to put those tiny little pony tail holders into my girls hair. And, day after day I send them off to wherever they’re going looking slightly homeless. I’ve come to just accept the fact that I’m just not cut out to do girls hair. Or anyone’s hair, really!
Anyway–Every night we have this ritual. Or, rather, we HAD this ritual. Picture it. Me– Holding the girls by their hair, trying my hardest to GENTLY (hah!) get those pony tails out. It always (ALWAYS) ended in tears–Maybe mine, maybe theirs, I’m not sure. I blocked it out of my brain! Eventually Tyler (that’s my husband, if you’re new around these parts) just resorted to using scissors while I would hide in the corner covering my eyes. Every. Single. Night. I am scarred by this!
SO scarred, that I stayed up hours and hours one night researching ways to get those dang pony tails out without too much tugging. Finally, I found a comb that had a little razor on the end. I was so sold, except, it was sold out (obviously)…Thankfully, I realized that the end of the coveted comb looked pretty similar to a seam ripper.
And guys. My life has never been the same. Can I just bear my testimony on seam rippers right now? This trick changed my life, and my gals are finally letting me close to their hair again. Halleluja!
Now…To work on perfecting my hair skills.
